Feature results: Scott started 4th and finished 4th.

The leaders are fighting for the Honeybrook track championship, so it makes sense that they have unlocked the secret to great speed here. The 3 car pulled away on the starts, and Scott just couldn't reel him in.

Initially, Scott felt that I made a bad gear change for the feature, but the rpms and lap times on the Mychron said a different story. Who knows what was holding us back, but today wasn't about finishing first. Just getting on the track itself was a major victory, and then finishing both the heat and the feature... priceless!

Scott had so much fun racing today, and made a few new friends along the way! He wants to race here again soon. Such an amazing thing to hear him say! So next summer, we'll be back! 😀

Heat results
Goal 1: get car on track ✅️
Goal 2: finish race ✅️

It was really nice seeing Scott conquer his fear of this track and race! Car looked good, too! Scott was starting 3rd, but an incident involving the leaders forced the 2 car to make repairs in the pits. This put Scott in the outside pole for the re-rack restart. Outside lane definitely seems to be the more difficult place to be here as he was shuffled back to 4th by the end of turn 2. The two leaders were in a class of their own, but Scott kept pace with the other three cars, running several laps in the 7.1x second range (track record 6.9x). The car is prepped, adjustments made, now on to the feature!

Lucky ducky! We're at Honeybrook Speedway today, first time in 3 years. Last time, we were both rookies and never actually made it onto the track. All the experience gained since then has finally brought us back, and Scott is feeling confident! Pulled the number 66 duck, so we'll see what that leads to for a starting position in the heat. I'm very excited to see him get on this track and show us what he can do. Good luck, Scott!

What can I say about tonight’s races?! 🏁 Both boys grew in their own way tonight, and it was so much fun to watch!

Scott was up first in Jr. Honda, and there was a big crew this week with 9 cars total. Scott made a beautiful pass in his heat and took the win! 🙌

During the main, Scott led the pack for a bit. While lapping another car, the two bumped, and unfortunately Scott was given a strike, which sent him to the back of the pack. But he did NOT give up. He fought tooth and nail and worked his way back through the field, finishing **4th out of 9 cars**. We are so incredibly proud of him! ❤️

Racing isn’t just about going fast—it’s a huge mental game. Learning how to handle setbacks, stay focused, and keep pushing is just as important as what happens on the track.

Then it was Maverick’s turn! We realized he was still having trouble reaching the pedal, and unfortunately, the part we ordered hasn’t come in yet. So, we worked on a makeshift fix for now.

Maverick raced against one buddy and finished **2nd**. He was disappointed that he didn’t get the win, but we couldn’t be more proud of him. This was one of the faster times he has run, and he really worked on improving his lines. We’re seeing him learn and grow every time he gets behind the wheel, and that’s what it’s all about! 💙

McGowan Racing may not have taken home the checkered flag tonight, but we definitely won in other ways. 🏁❤️

Proud of these boys, their perseverance, and the lessons they’re learning along the way. On to the next one! 💪

🏁 **McGowan Racing enjoyed a great night of practice at the home track!** 🏁

After trying out a new track when our races were rained out, it was nice to get back home, turn some laps, and work on passing with Family Ties Racing and Jax Fuhri Racing .

Our little Red Rookie is continuing to work on his lines and racecraft. With more time, practice, and confidence, we’re hoping to see that speed continue to build! 💪🏎️

🌕 **Join us Friday night for a race under the lights!** We can’t wait to get back out there! 🏁🌙

McGowan Racing took a little break from racing this week while one of our handlers gets some much-needed repairs. 🛠️

That didn’t stop us from adding a little flair to the cars, though! We’re excited to bring this new look to life and can’t wait to get back on the track.

A huge thank you to O’Neil Designs for bringing the picture to life and making the cars stand out! 🏁🔥

There is something that deserves to be highlighted about quarter midget racing, and it has very little to do with who finishes first. 🏁❤️

It’s the **community.**

This sport is filled with parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters, friends, and complete strangers who all genuinely want the same thing: **to see every racer succeed and get back out on that track.**

Last weekend, we tried out a new track, and one of our racers found himself in a few different scuffles. One incident sent our car to the pits with a bent wheel. Before the driver and handler even made it back, another parent already had a spare tire in his hands, ready to lend it to us. Then, other people from the track came over and helped without hesitation.

All of this… to get **one child back on the track.**

That is what makes this sport so special.

The best part of racing is watching everyone root for your child—even when they are racing against their own child. We see the hard work, the struggles, the fears, the accomplishments, and the progress that every young racer has overcome. At the end of the day, we truly just want to see these kids succeed and enjoy doing what they love.

Being newer to the sport, we don't have every spare part readily available, and we certainly don't always have the experience to know exactly what might be going wrong with the car. There have been plenty of times when we've needed a helping hand, some advice, or simply someone willing to take a look.

And every time, someone has been there.

Without this community, we honestly don't know where we would be today. This sport could easily have eaten us up and spit us out if we had to figure it all out alone.

Instead, we found a community that lifts each other up. A community that celebrates the wins, helps through the tough nights, and wants to see **every single kid** get back out there and turn some laps.

That is the part of quarter midget racing that deserves to be talked about more.

**The racing is incredible, but the people are what make this sport unforgettable.** 🏁❤️
