Just because you can… doesn’t mean you should.

Hypermobility is a double-edged sword and so many clients have it without even realizing it. The sooner we can bring awareness to it, the better your body will feel long-term.

In the bottom half of these slides, Rae is demonstrating what we see all the time:
locking into joints, dropping quickly into end range, and moving through exercises without much intention.

That kind of flexibility might look appealing but here’s the catch:

When we rely on joints instead of muscles, we miss the opportunity to build true strength and stability. Over time, that can lead to unnecessary wear and tear, poor muscle development, and load being placed in all the wrong places.

Instead, think:
✨ slower movement
✨ controlled range (not max range)
✨ active muscle engagement

Backing off the “biggest” version of a movement is often the fastest way to build support where your body actually needs it.

Bigger isn’t always better!
