2026 Kentwood Metal Madness w3 , supported by Innova, was held this past Friday 10.9.26
The weather was again amazing, mid to upper 70s, no rain, low humidity, i.e. perfect disc golf weather.
The attendance was again a very light 24 due to poor marketing by Monsieur Kirsch, posting day of about 4 hrs prior to event…future self, you can do better !
The winning score was a very impressive -19 shot by JOFO and Jerry Koning with 4 metal madnesses including a real ace on 6 by Jerry.
We used udisc for the scoring and this time tried scoring metal madnesses via noting them as a penalty, this worked, ty Matt Sautter for the great idea. They appear as a mini triangle on the leaderboard by the hole if you expand the team round score.

The massive ace pool of $24 was as mentioned earlier won by Mr. Jerry Koning with an excellent real ace on hole #6. It was kind of funny because Jerry got to this tee super fast and was already throwing while everyone was still moving bags and getting settled from hole 5, so we were delayed a few seconds behind Jerry on our cheer. We were like, ok, that just happened. :)
Metaphysical moment
(Which in itself is funny because thinking about it now, there are different levels of excitement in seeing an ace that you were prepared to witness vs. catching the tail end. i.e. if I had been focused watching the whole run up and throw and flight vs. seeing Jerry throw out of the corner of my eye while inputting scores, fiddling with my bag, glimsing the flight, thinking that looks pretty good, then hearing chains crash and seeing disc spinning in basket, thinking oh wow, that just aced w/ a delayed cheer vs the magic of the moment in real time, instant cheers and big high 5s. Moral of the story, don't miss out, pay attention, "stop and smell the aces"... Ok your morning moment of deep introspection is over :) please carry on with your exciting day,
The bob was combined into a mega bob on #9 for $24 won by the infamous Matt Sautter who proceeded to sell me on giving him more ctps, perhaps feeling emboldened that his clever udisc scoring solution deserved an additional prize, which I might add, it did and would if only he had reminded me of that at that moment, but alas he didn’t, so no extra ctp. Now that still doesn’t explain his extra ctp request every single week even if he hasn’t contributed a meme, good idea, or won anything that week….hence his title lovingly remains intact as most likely pilfer a h**p gen. 🙂
As always we like to thank our season sponsors for donations that make our ctps possible. Each week about 125% to 140% of registration goes out in the form of ctp merch, cash, and discs payout directly back to the players!
These are our sponsors that help make this level of giving back possible.
