Restaurants have hired 1.3 million since January. The last seven months have shown job gains in this industry to include a 30% increase from June to July, but it is still shy from last year. Although some will blame the extra unemployment, it is the low wages and safety concerns that are keeping people away. The quitting rate right now is at an all time high for QSR's at 5.6%. Remember if you quit a job you are not eligible for unemployment. Many have moved to other industries that were more stable during the pandemic.

Restaurants have hired 1.3M employees since January With the addition of 253,000 jobs in July, the industry has now had seven straight months of employment gains.

Bars and Restaurants in North Carolina and a few other states are struggling to get alcohol in their locations. Although some of the issues are the slow production and delivery of aluminum cans and bottles, the states that control the sale of alcohol to the establishments and acting as distributors can't keep up with the demand.

With Covid masks and capacity restrictions being lifted, it is especially wise as a seller of alcohol to pay attention to their guests and customers. Many have just started socializing outside of the home again and may be a little more excited to indulge or have developed unhealthy relationships with alcohol that could trigger intervention.

Whatever the case may be, be mindful during this time of freedom and celebration to keep your guests or customers safe.
