Imperfect Pastries

When your kitchen smells like Peaches all week and you realize you have like 20 peaches about to go bad you BAKE 🤩🤩🤩 Peach Buckle, peach butter, rhubarb streusel muffins and pound cake to go with the peach butter. A rare stretch of time alone in the kitchen!!

This weekend I finally found the time to bake for an order that was placed on my shop back in March- the week the world shut down. With EVERYONE home all the time, I am still making peace with the fact that I can't bake until my kids return to school. I try to remind myself that people will still want to order from me in future years. It doesn't have to be now. I do miss being super busy and baking all the time especially at this time of year. It's just one of the multiple changes that has effected us with the pandemic. One of many. Thank you for your love and support last year and I can't wait to be back to baking tons again!!

I feel for all these high school graduates who are having a very different version of the end of senior year. A friend of mine reached out to send some goody baskets to a few grads from one of my Alma matters Moanalua High. It felt special to get to work on these for them! Congrats sugar cookies, Twix tarts, oatmeal cream pies, macadamia shortbread bars, and chocolate chip cookies 😁 Congrats 2020 grads!

Strawberry Rhubarb Bars - I was trying to come up with a way to use the sheet tray of strawberries I had in my fridge. It took me all weekend to accomplish these....even though it really only took 30 min to make. You would think being stuck at home would make baking easier!! I'm happy they came out 😊

Oh man...I may have iced this cake three times....covered myself and all my surroundings with buttery chocolate caramel frosting while the cake fell apart in pieces and the top layer tried to slide off. I recovered it in some form...it reminds me of the image of the Covid virus lol. Salted caramel chocolate cake for my husband's birthday. It tastes good 😋

With my kids home 24/7 the time to bake has reduced to minimal moments. I feel a little like I’m missing something with the shop closed but the risk of none finding ingredients on top of trying not to leave the house and constant little eyes and fingers and talking it’s just one of the sacrifices needed for this virus. Praying for the health of all and ready for us to get to the other side 😬😬😫

Happy Sunday! As I dig through ideas for a St. Patties day party next weekend, I love the idea of finding ways to enjoy the drinks I remember from the fun times of years prior ;) I don't get to party like this any more but I think its cool to try and bring back memories!!

I don’t normally offer cupcakes - there are some incredibly talented ladies who can make some awesome looking cupcakes! But when a friend reaches out asking for a few basic chocolate and vanilla cupcakes I’m happy to help! 🥰 I was also very happy to eat an extra cupcake 😜
