Tutu School Raleigh Tutu School in Raleigh offers ballet for kids 6 months to 8 years.

Tutu School is a boutique-style ballet school that caters specifically to children 6 months to 8 years-old. Our mission is simple: We believe that exposing children at the earliest possible age to creativity, movement, and classical music will only serve them well in whatever they choose to do with their lives, that dancing like swans and Sugar Plum Fairies not only exercises little bodies but also nurtures big imaginations, and that twirling should be a fundamental part of any childhood.

Our favorite week of OcTWIRLber is Costume Week! 👻

Starting tomorrow 10/25 students can wear their favorite costume to ballet class! Anything goes, so long as dancers can comfortably move around for class. BOO-tiful props like witch's brooms and Thor's hammers can remain in the audience until after class for pictures.

We have thrilling activities in store for class this week - it will be dreadfully fun 🎃

If you take a costume picture in class tag us! We can't wait to see all the dress-up and creativity your dancer brings to class :) Even Odette will have a costume on!

✨ There’s more happening underneath the sparkly costume than we might realize.

A scarf becomes a cape. A living room becomes a stage. A little dancer becomes Cinderella, a fairy, a rocket ship blasting into space… 🚀🩰 Make-believe is one of the magical parts of childhood—but it’s also so much more than play.

When children step into imaginary worlds, they’re exploring stories and emotions, experimenting with language, imagining another person’s perspective, making creative choices, and discovering how ideas and feelings can be expressed through their bodies.

It’s also one of the reasons imagination is woven so intentionally into the way we teach ballet at Tutu School. ✨

With costume season officially upon us (and costume week coming up later this month 🎃), we’re taking a closer look at the research behind imaginative play, storytelling, dress-up, and why a playful introduction to movement can still be a deeply thoughtful one.

Did you know that in the ballet, Cinderella dons a pink tutu instead of blue?!

This classic ballet story is featured on our signature wall of tutus, and of course comes in your child's size to match with Odette! 😉Your Tutu Teacher will be happy to help you find the size you need, like your very own Fairy Godmother!

There are some other elements of the ballet that differ from the Disney movie we all know and love besides the color of Cinderella's tutu...Do you know any? Drop your trivia in the comments! 🧚
