⛰️ BHCF AT THE RUT! ⛰️
BHCF coaches and members were BUSY this weekend! A crew traveled to Big Sky, MT, to take on Rut Mountain Runs — arguably some of the toughest trail races in the U.S.
Three days. Multiple distances. Massive elevation. Incredible views.
21K
Coach Jacque Hagen and Shannon both conquered the 21K! This was Shannon’s first Rut, while Jacque completed her 4th — adding to her previous finishes of two 28Ks and a 50K.
Former BHCF coach, but forever family Nikki Hettinger absolutely crushed her first Rut, finishing 4th in the 21K!
BHCF member Devin also took on his first 21K — and beat his goal time by an incredible 45 MINUTES! 👏
28K
Coaches Hannah and Katie Grote came back for year two with some unfinished business. Last year, both reached the summit before being time-capped at the final aid station.
This year? THEY FINISHED! 🙌 And with time to spare!
THE TRIFECTA
Coach Jim Hadd took on the ultimate challenge: 3 races. 3 days. 3 finishes. 3 trips to the summit of Lone Peak.
🏔️ VK: 2.8 miles straight uphill + 3,632 ft of elevation gain.
🏔️ 28K: 17.6 miles + nearly 8,000 ft of elevation gain — reaching the summit for the second time.
🏔️ 50K: 30.3 miles of all the worst parts of the 28K, another summit, and even more miles.
And this was Jim’s first Rut! 🤯
He was joined by his son Ronan, who competed in both the VK and 28K. Ronan took 3rd in his age group in the VK and then passed Dad on the final stretch of the 28K to beat him by 7 minutes! 😂
Sorry, Jim! 😆
And yep — this was Ronan’s first Rut, too!
What an incredible weekend of grit, determination, and pushing past your limits. We couldn’t be more proud of everyone who stepped up and out of their comfort zone
Congratulations to all of our BHCF athletes!
And stay tuned… 👀
