This is going to grind some gears, but I'm going to say it. You should slow down when you get to the hills, and some of you, depending on the hill or your fitness level, it's going to be walking, and that's okay! If you think you're not good at hills, chances are that you're probably just running them too hard.

The warning signs your body sends before an injury, and why they matter more the older you get. If you're 40, 50, or 60 and still running, this one's for you. Coaching only works if it's a two way conversation, so tell me: what's your body telling you right now that you've been ignoring?

To expand a little bit more on the walking... It's important to walk proactively before you feel like you need to walk rather than reactively because you're tired. For example when I'm running the switchbacks of a trail, I typically just shuffle or walk on a lot of the steeper sections. Yeah I would probably get around the switchback 5 or 10 seconds quicker without walking but I'll feel better over the entire duration of the Run and probably run quicker with more stamina due to the proactive walking.

Anyone else do this?

And if they do care in a negative way, they can go suck an egg!

And seriously if you haven't invested in a vest yet, you're missing out! It goes toe to toe with the tights that have the side pocket when it comes to being able to carry something and forget you have it. Am I right or am I right?!

If you have any questions around your running, strength work, nutrition please don't hesitate to ask! Chances are someone else is thinking the same thing🙂

"You don't need to be fast to deserve a coach."

If you've been telling yourself you need a PR, a marathon on the calendar, or some minimum pace before you "qualify" for coaching, this one's for you.

The back and middle of the pack is who I coach. Stuck runners, injury-prone runners, runners who've been winging it for years. That's the work.

Coaching is a two-way street too, so what I bring to the table only works if you're telling me how training actually feels in your real life.
