BEIMO: FREEHAND FREESTYLE KICKBOXING

By Sifu Alex Collazo

Wilburt had gone on a quest to prove everything I taught him could work. He took on all challenges and won every single one. He had my praises and the respect of his peers and the fear he received from many. He was known for his power, speed and footwork.

One day i received insults from a young guy not much younger than Wilburt, who was a very good boxer and claimed he could prove that Wilburt was a dud and that what I taught was garbage. I remember what Wilburt had said to me: "Im not going to use finesse or grace like usual, but im going to hit him with lumbering bombs and he wont be able to stop me. This way he'll not disrespect us again. I dont like what he said to you..."

And with that i give you, Wilburt(blue) Vs Boy (Red, name protected).

Note: I found out two things about the boy after the match. He had alot of nobilty and apologized. He had a good heart. And yes, the kid was a gooood boxer. This is a much shorter video....

This MIKE LEE clip from our interview about two years back, is one of my favorites. He fuels you with the power to get through the worst situation in your life. This story is a little action piece from his days as a brave youth, and I loved every part of it.

In my eyes Mike is now a martial arts legend, a venerable personality in the art of Non Classical Gung Fu as taught him by his mentor, Jesse Glover, Bruce Lee’s first student in America.

Han Qingtang 韓慶堂 (1901-1976) hailed from Xizaoxing Village, Dianji Town, Jimo City, Shandong Province. As a distinguished martial artist during the era of the Republic of China, Qingtang played a pivotal role in advancing modern Taiwanese martial arts. Gifted with skills inherited from his lineage, he excelled in techniques such as the iron sand palm, six-way short strike 六路短打, and traditional Chinese medical diagnosis and treatment. His proficiency extended to Ambush boxing 埋伏拳, Artillery boxing 炮拳, Lianbu boxing 連步拳, Sancai sword 三才劍, Bagua sabre 八卦刀, Praying Mantis boxing, and Chinese wrestling. His grappling abilities earned him the moniker, "a thousand hands grappling."
From his youth, Qingtang showcased an innate talent for martial arts. His journey took a turn when he relocated to Qingdao for work and encountered Sun Maolin 孫茂林, an adept of Shaolin boxing. Through Maolin, Qingtang was introduced to Jiang Benhe 姜本河, deepening his knowledge in the North School of Changquan 長拳. In 1917, under the guidance of the Shandong Wushu Training Institute founded by Ma Liang 馬良, Qingtang studied Liangshan 梁山 Kungfu with Chang Bingzhang 常秉章, further enhancing his prowess in ambush boxing and wrestling.
His dedication bore fruit in 1928 when he joined the inaugural professorial class at the Nanjing Central Guoshu Academy 南京中央國術館. During this tenure, Qingtang not only mastered various Shaolin disciplines but also trained in Taijiquan and push hands with Yang Chengfu 楊澄甫. He honed his skills in Wudang Qingping swordsmanship and internal arts under the tutelage of Li Jinglin 李景林. His exceptional abilities were recognized in 1929 at the National Challenge held by the Zhejiang Guoshu Recreation Club 浙江國術游藝會. A year later, Qingtang graduated top of his class from the Central Academy of Martial Arts 南京中央國術館 and secured a teaching position at the Academy of Zhejiang Martial Arts 浙江國術館. His peers revered him as the "Wu Zhuangyuan" 武狀元, acknowledging his expertise in various forms including Shaolin boxing, iron sand palm, spring leg, and long boxing, as well as weaponry like the Qingping sword 青萍劍 and Miao knife 苗刀. His capturing kungfu techniques solidified his reputation as "a thousand hands to capture."
In 1934, Qingtang accepted a role as an instructor at the Zhejiang Police Academy. By 1947, he relocated to Taiwan alongside the National Government, taking on technical instruction at both the Central Police Academy and the Taiwan Provincial Police Academy. Concurrently, he fervently promoted traditional martial arts across major educational institutions. Tragically, a fondness for alcohol led him to mistakenly consume counterfeit alcohol while teaching Shaolin martial arts in the Philippines during his later years, resulting in poisoning and subsequent stroke. Qingtang passed away in Taiwan in 1976.

LEE VS NAKACHI AND THE YMCA BATTLE

This is the fight that details how Bruce really fought.

In his younger years Bruce was really into fighting, and being the best. All that changed because of his time in Hollywood and Hong Kong as an actor. Bruce Lee is one of my role models, but let’s be real, he was human. Full of all the things that make us human.

Jesse Glover and James Demile really knew Bruce and hung out with him during those days. I have my own beliefs about how Bruce felt about Jesse, and if he truly felt comfortable around those guys, and how later all his buddies were almost all Asian. Jesse was at the fight that lasted only 11 seconds, and he beat this dude with chain punches… he didn’t complain about Wing Chun then did he?

THE ANGRY WONG JACK WHO?

There’s more than enough evidence that suggests Bruce lied about wing Chun not being enough after Wong jack man. I think jkd was his thing(whatever that was at the time) and he didn’t want anyone to argue with him about it, so he told ‘Black Belt’ that wing Chun wasn’t enough. Too much evidence pointing to him lying about that and then there’s the letters confirming what Linda said, and David Chin. You can’t read it any other way.

Bruce lost his crap, and didn’t even wait for the go ahead, and while they were still prepping, he beat the crap out of Wong jack man. That’s what happened. He had a very violent temper and hated when people spoke ill of him. He was a Hong Kong gangster kid after all…
