The DOJ just dropped its appeal defending the federal ban on carrying fi****ms in post office lobbies and parking lots. This comes after a Texas federal judge ruled last year that the ban was unconstitutional and violated the Second Amendment. For now, that ruling stands, and the government has backed away from trying to narrow or overturn it on appeal.

This doesn’t mean “anything goes” at every post office, and there will still be legal fights ahead, but it’s a major sign that the old blanket prohibition is on shaky ground.
