Permit fever in full effect. Silver everywhere, happy anglers, and a few snook mixed into the chaos.
La Bahia del Espiritu Santo (ESB) is the true gem of the Mexican Riviera, and perhaps the last remaining wilderness fly fishing outpost in the Mexican Yucatan.
Espiritu Santo Bay Lodge (ESB), located in the Mexican province of Quintana Roo, and is a frontier flats fishing destination specifically designed for serious saltwater fly fishers. We are very excited to announce the opening of the new frontier flats fishing destination, Espiritu Santo Bay Lodge (ESB), in the Mexican province of Quintana Roo.

Permit fever in full effect. Silver everywhere, happy anglers, and a few snook mixed into the chaos.

A strong mix from Bahía Espíritu Santo, with permit taking the lead and plenty of bonefish and snook adding to the story.

Permit, snook, and tarpon in the same mix. Different water, different shots, and a solid look at what Bahía Espíritu Santo can put in front of you when things line up.

Up close, nothing to hide.
A clean bonefish over shallow green water, tight to the edge, eating a well-presented fly exactly how it should. No rush, no chaos—just the right shot, at the right time.
These flats don’t always give it away. You need to stay sharp, move well, and trust what you’re seeing. When it lines up like this, it feels simple. But it never really is.
One fish, one moment—but a lot going on behind it.

Multiple permit on the board, different anglers, different moments—but the same process behind all of it. Reading the light, adjusting the angle, trusting the guide, and making it count when the window opens.
Some shots come while wading tight to the edge. Others from the skiff, with just enough wind to make it interesting. Bonefish mixed in, barracuda keeping things honest—but this one was clearly about permit.
Clean eats, second chances that mattered, and a group that stayed locked in all the way through.
That’s how you build a week like this.

Not all flats are the same.
Some look easy—clear water, bright sky, fish around. But once you step on the platform, you realize how much it takes. Wind shifting just enough, light changing, fish sliding in and out of range.
Permit that test your patience. Bonefish tight to the edge that give you one clean shot. Barracuda that appear out of nowhere and demand an instant decision.
Different species, different tempos—but the same mindset all week. Stay sharp, trust the guide, and be ready when it finally happens.

Long days on the flats, switching between wading and the skiff, reading the light, adjusting angles, and staying ready. Some chances come slow… others explode out of nowhere.
Juvenile tarpon rolling in the shallows, barracuda cutting through the edges, and plenty of moments where everything lines up for a few seconds—and that’s all you get.
This is what it looks like when a group commits to the process. Not just chasing species, but figuring out the water together.

From clear inside flats to darker backcountry water, this group put together a proper mix.
Snook in the shallows, tarpon tucked into the mangroves, permit in open water, and bonefish on clean flats. Different fish, different settings, and a program that showed just how much variety this bay holds.
Not every trip comes together like this.

A true backcountry bruiser.
Big shoulders, heavy head, and no shortage of attitude. The kind of fish that lives tight to structure and makes you earn every inch.
Exactly what we come here for.

Silver kings of the mangroves.
Tarpon holding tight along the edges, sliding through dark water with that unmistakable presence. The take is explosive. The fight, even more so.
This is why we watch the shoreline so closely.
