Aloha! Sending love back to the islands. Music and celebration traditions keep us together. Thank you to the Justin Firmeza trio and Music in Place for providing the music for our Annual Luau, 33 years!

Today we launched a new initiative that hits all the feels.

Music In Place artists John Worley, Larry Dunlap, and Jim Kerwin entertained the residents at Gordon Manor, a residential memory care home in Redwood City. They played holiday favorites for a full house.

Here are some comments from the team at Gordon Manor:

One of our residents said, “Oh those were the days when I would listen to my son practicing trumpet. Oh, wonderful! here we go again!"

A daughter said, “Oh, joy! I was wondering when you would have live music again…”

One of the residents for whom choral performance is a family tradition hummed along to “What Child is?”

Our residents and staff got up and danced to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

One was so happy and said, “that was such a wonderful surprise!”

So many came alive!

Stay safe out there. Omicron is as contagious as measles. I did house calls, in person, all last year. I’m staying home this week and doing video visits when needed.
That said, vaccination + booster has protected many from serious disease. Elders and those with Diabetes, heart disease, cancer need to isolate from this wave, it’s still more deadly for them.
Good news, this surge should likely recede within 3-4 weeks.
