So this is the next stage on the miniatures I threw the other day. Actually, 4th stage? They've been footrimmed, handles put on, and not they have to be cleaned and bisque fired today. Throwing the pot is only the first stage of many. Meanwhile, Al has been throwing chowder bowls. These espresso cups are about 3"; they will shrink another 12% in the two firings.

Miniature day… throwing espresso mugs from a hump of clay.

A typical day in the studio for me...throw about 90 pots, in this case spoon rests, honey jars, garlic jars, tea mugs, sponge holders and a special order....then add handles to pots Al has just trimmed...then glaze. Then Al takes over the potters wheel and throws. Sometime during the day we unload and reload three kilns and fire.
