We have three training academies in Rockingham County: Reidsville Academy - T/Th (6:30p-8:30p); RCC Academy - M/F (4:00p-6:00p); Eden Academy - M/F (6:30p-8:30p).

Well, well, well.... Look what the tiger dragged in....

It brought me immense joy this past weekend to learn that our former rockstar and Cho Dan, Dexter Filiault, managed to win 🏆 multiple first place victories at his World Tang Soo Do Association Regional Championships in Louisiana on Saturday, 09/12! Dexter left Ten Tigers Martial Arts earlier this year to go live in Mississippi and begin this next exciting chapter of his life. While in Mississippi, Dexter began attending a Tang Soo Do school in Mississippi and has continued his training! Dexter is a prodigy in martial arts and the single most successful martial artist our program has ever produced in terms of success at tournaments. He also perfectly embodies the kind of student and values our organization seeks to foster.

What may surprise many of you is that Dexter's younger sister and the most adorable little girl on the planet, Pacey, has also begun training in Tang Soo Do. She won 🏆 multiple podium placements at this same tournament as a White Belt, proving that she possess that same martial arts gene that Dexter has!

I would like to give a special shoutout to Dexter and Pacey's new Tang Soo Do school in Mississippi, called "Tigers Karate Center." This academy is accredited by the World Tang Soo Do Association, and is taught by Senior Martial Arts Instructor, Ms. Lauren Pursley. Anyone living in Mississippi who would like to try out quality Tang Soo Do training should check out Tigers Karate Center, provided that it is in your area!

Ten Tigers Martial Arts will be celebrating Dexter and Pacey's victory tonight during our Reidsville Academy's class!

Shoutout to our Eden Academy's Madison Hannah on recently taking the plunge and beginning her training in the bo staff! Despite being nervous at first, Madison quickly took well to the bo and became much more confident in its handling by the end of class!

Madison was also nervous before starting her sparring training last Friday, but showed tremendous courage and progress by the end of her bouts!

I am very proud of her, as is her team, and we look forward to seeing where her martial arts journey takes her!

A special shoutout to our Eden Academy's "Tiny Tiger" Bellamy DiGuardia on participating in his first ever board breaking class on Friday, 09/11! This video showcases his first ever board breaking featuring a re-breakable board!

This kid is such an adorable, hilarious and fierce little warrior! There is simply no other kid like him on the planet! I couldn't be prouder of him in this very special moment, and am glad that it was captured on camera!

Shoutout to our JV tournament team's Summer Clifton - our new superstar - for a great showing during point sparring training on Saturday, 09/12! This was only Summer's second point sparring class ever, and she is showing aptitude for the sport!

The rules for this point sparring match were the following:

1.) No punches to the head allowed.
2.) Kicks to the head are allowed.
3.) Punches and kicks allowed to the torso.
4.) No hits below the waist.

These rules mirror those features at the All Korean Martial Arts World Championships in Atlantic City, NJ, which Ten Tigers Martial Arts has the privilege of competing at each year.

Facing Summer during this video was our JV tournament team's Mason Spangler. Despite the immense size difference, Summer was quite aggressive and managed to land several good hits on Mason!

I want to give a special shoutout to Mason for being such an awesome sparring partner for Summer. He is such a good kid, a talented martial artist and is my buddy for these reasons and then some!

Both Summer and Mason are going to kick butt at tournament next year!

Our JV tournament team's Ava Sturgill took time during gymnastics class on Saturday, 09/12, to work on her releve'! We certainly don't call her the "female Dexter Filiault" for no reason - she is quite talented!

Shoutout to our Reidsville Academy's Logan Denny on participating in our weekly "Bully Beatdown" training on 09/10! The "bully" in this scenario was one of our top boxing students, Gavyn Brown.

As part of this week's "Bully Beatdown" Logan was tasked with utilizing his boxing skills to defend himself against this attacker while calling for help and giving verbal commands for the assailant to get back.

Moving forward, Logan will continue to train keeping his hands closer to his head and developing better rhythm and head movements, but otherwise, for a lower ranking student who only began his boxing training a few weeks, I was quite pleased with how Logan defended himself in this scenario!
