Our Vehicle Maintenance team are the people behind the machines. Whether it's repairing snowcats, fixing snowmobiles, maintaining loaders, or solving whatever mechanical challenge the winter throws their way, they're a huge force in keeping mountain operations running smoothly. Kevin is a longtime veteran who helps make it all happen.

Kevin first joined Mt. Rose in 1987, starting in Mountain Operations working under Greg Stafford. Back then, he did a little bit of everything, from repairing lifts to plowing parking lots and supporting daily mountain operations. After leaving in 1990 and spending several years working with PistenBully, one of the leading snowcat manufacturers, he returned to Mt. Rose in December 1995 and has been a vital part of the Vehicle Maintenance team ever since.

He’s also the mountain’s unofficial “Where’s Waldo?” taking the claim as the staff’s resident photo-bomber.

Kevin, thank you for your hard work and dedication at Mt. Rose and thank you to every single one of our Vehicle Maintenance staff for everything you do behind the scenes to keep the mountain moving.

If you see Kevin on the mountain, give him a thank-you.
Better yet… photo-bomb him. 😉

All aboard… sort of. 💧

Zephyr is undergoing a full-load test. Our Lift Maintenance crew fills water bags with roughly 22 gallons each—about 183 pounds—to simulate the weight of a rider. The lift’s load side is then filled to capacity so the team can test its systems and brakes under real-world weight.

It takes a lot of water, careful planning and serious expertise to keep Zephyr ready for winter.

The mountain never sleeps. Summer maintenance is in full swing, with the Northwest Express drive unit getting a complete overhaul to keep things spinning smoothly when winter returns.

Huge thanks to the incredible volunteers who teamed up with Mt. Rose and Keep Tahoe Blue for a community cleanup in Tahoe Meadows today. This amazing group removed nearly 200 pounds of trash from the area!

The Tahoe Meadows are a vital ecosystem in the Tahoe Basin, serving as a carbon sink, providing habitat for pollinators, and playing a key role in water regulation.

Thank you volunteers!!!

What a great week at Mt. Rose! We were honored to host the Ski California Lift Maintenance & Operations Education (LMOE) Conference. 🔧 It was an awesome opportunity to welcome industry professionals from across the region, share knowledge, and strengthen our collective commitment to safe and efficient mountain operations.

Thank you to for continuing to foster collaboration, education, and innovation throughout the ski industry. We're proud to be part of your mission!

We miss you all! 👋
Even though we’re in the off-season, our teams have been hard at work behind the scenes in off-season maintenance and training. We’re proud to see them continuing to advance their skills and always striving to grow and improve.

We hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, and a big thank you to all of our service members, near and far!
