With the help of local company, Western Arborists, and some awesome volunteers, we successfully removed all hazardous Cottonwood trees from a section of trail that runs between the Truckee River and NV Energy’s Tracy Pond, just west of USA Parkway.

Cottonwoods have notoriously low structural integrity, and this particular stand became the unfortunate target for North America’s largest rodents: beavers. After being gnawed on by the beavers, many of the trees began to fall with each high wind event or bout of inclement weather, creating the need for their removal.

There are still plenty of heathy trees along this section providing shade and reprieve from the heat. Consider riding or hiking out this way on your next adventure 🥾and if you ever notice unfavorable conditions on the trail, feel free to report them to us at:

Arlington Bridge in Reno is open. It is a reminiscence of Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie Style architecture.
There is an overlook for pedestrians to be able to safely stop, while crossing the bridge and view the Truckee. Well done Reno.

Here is an update on the Hirschdale Bridge. Pedestrians and bikers still have access across the Truckee River. Just be careful when the construction crew is working.

Rode the Legacy Trail through Truckee and noticed a new bridge, Eschenbach Bridge, off of River Road. It leads to a beautiful park, Dewbeyumuwb? Park, and connects Truckee with the Legacy Trail. via the regional park. At this time, it is an alternative to the TPT. You end up in the Cottonwood Restaurants parking lot, then head onto Brockway, which you will cross to reach the Regional Park in a short distance.

One of our TPT trail adopters went out and cleaned up their section. They trimmed shrubs and picked up garbage. Thank you to all our trail adopters who put in time and effort on our beautiful trail.
Please be respectful: if you are hiking and see garbage, pack a small bag, pick it up, and take it out. Become a good trail steward. Thank you!

We are so excited to share this milestone with you! Our most impressive monument sign to date is now fully installed in Idlewild Park 🥳

This sign honors the history of Tahoe-Pyramid Trail along with many of our longtime donors and volunteers who have made the work possible over the years. To celebrate the unveiling of the sign, we hosted a Donor and Volunteer Appreciation cookout in the park last Friday - Thank you so much to all who attended and made this such a memorable event! 🥰

Extra Thank-You’s go out to our generous sponsors and .reno as well as and for the donated raffle prizes.

If you haven’t seen the new sign yet, take a stroll through Idlewild and check it out! 🌼🌿
