Problem solving.
Emphasis will be on proper fundamentals and effective equipment management.
Please arrive by 8:00am. Registration closes at 8:30am and shooting starts at 9:00am. Please email [email protected] for details.
Where:
Washoe County Regional Shooting Facility – 21555 Pyramid Way, Reno, NV 89510
Ages: 15 and up.
Fee: $20.00 ($15.00 for PVGC members), $5 (Practice day)
What to bring:
A center fire rifle in either bolt action or semi-automatic. Calibers are limited from a minimum of .223 and up to maximum size of .30 calibers. Nothing larger than .30 calibers will be allowed. Common cartridges are .308 Wi******er, 6mm Creedmoor, etc.
It is recommended that your rifle be equipped with a bi-pod and a sling. However, you can use a pack or tripod if need be. All forms of rests are allowed. Benches and mechanical rests would not be recommended due to time constraints per stage and the requirement that you must be able to carry everything on your person just prior to engaging your targets.
A riflescope capable of adjusting for bullet drop at ranges well past 100 yards.
80 rounds of ammunition, although likely you will only need 50 rounds. Extra is always better.
Food and water to nourish yourself throughout the entire day, but emphasis on water given the warm temperatures and lack of shade at the range.
Accurate DOPE (Data Of Previous Engagement) for your rifle. You will need a PDA, cell phone or Kestrel with a computer generated ballistic solver to accurately engage the targets. First round hits are your goal towards success. Spotters will assist with bullet impacts if requested.
A spotting scope, if possible but not a requirement, to assist with scoring and spotting hits at distance.
Eye and ear protection.
Good Attitude.
What not to bring:
Full Metal Jacketed bullets or bullets containing ANY steel or tracer (we will check).
Any cartridge over .30 caliber and/or muzzle velocities exceeding 3,200 feet per second.
Requirements:
Muzzle control and safe firearm handling practices will be enforced AT ALL TIMES.
Have your rifle zeroed and ready to go. There will be NO sight-in period.
You must work with the squad assigned to you. You will be expected to assist with scoring, collecting brass and spotting for other shooters in your squad.
