Before this weekend wraps up, I wanted to say something.
Memorial Day exists because men and women gave everything for this country. Not a long weekend. Not a sale. Everything!
The people who didn't come home. The ones who shipped out and never made it back. The families sitting at a table this weekend with an empty chair they never talk about but never stop thinking about either.
And the ones still out there right now. Serving. Away from their families. Missing birthdays and anniversaries and ordinary Sundays that the rest of us take for granted.
That's not nothing. That's everything.
It's easy to let a weekend like this blur into cookouts and cold drinks and an extra day off. And there's nothing wrong with any of that. But somewhere underneath it, this weekend means something heavier. Something worth stopping for, even just for a minute.
So if you have a veteran in your life, call them. If you know a family who lost someone, reach out. Even a text. It matters more than you think. And if you're active duty or you've served, thank you,, sincerely.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Hug the people around you.
