No parent should feel this loss. This is my why.

70% of drownings happen when children are not expected to be in the water. Let that sink in. Young children can find gaps in our planned protections, and that is why Infant Swimming Resource Self-Rescue lessons are critical for the safety of your child. With the top cause of death for children ages 4 and under in the United States being drowning, we have designed a program that will get your child skilled in just weeks so that they are protected sooner. “I can’t believe you’d put your kids in ISR, it’s so traumatic!!”

No… you know what’s traumatic? Losing your child.

ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) teaches babies as young as 6 months how to survive in the water if the unthinkable happens. Not just “swim” but survive.

The focus isn’t on swimming laps. It’s on floating. Because swimming is exhausting for little bodies. They learn to swim just enough to turn themselves onto their back, float, breathe, and rest. Then repeat. That’s what saves lives.

Lessons are only 10 minutes a day.

Is it hard at first? Yes, mostly for the parents. Watching your child learn something new is uncomfortable sometimes. But within days, something clicks. They gain confidence. They understand what to do.

And by the end?
They can fall into the water fully clothed, shoes and all, and know how to save themselves.

That is worth the price and commitment to me.

Last week I had the incredible opportunity to meet someone I have looked up to in the ISR community, .cherislay. I joined her in the water and learned so many great ideas as I watched her teach her students. We had chatted on Instagram, and it was so fun to meet her in person!

I am eternally thankful for the supportive community of instructors, and it truly makes me happy to learn from more experienced instructors!

Thank you, Cheri, for being an inspiration and a mentor!

In order to be water safe, faces must go in the water! If your child has a water aversion, help desensitize them by getting their face wet in the tub. So many parents shake their child’s face if they startle, and that can actually create problems later on as they learn to swim! Make it a fun game and pour water over your own face to show them it isn’t bad, it can be fun!
