So proud of this girl! A little over a year of training at Calavera and she continues to put in the work like day 1.

Congrats Lo! Keep working hard!

Let me tell you just how amazing this girl is..
She started her day off in Utah collecting her triple crown belt for winning Nationals, American Open and Worlds in 2025. Then she went out and did what she does- crushed an 88KG/194lbs sn**ch and a 105KG/231 lbs clean jerk to win her 8th National Title! With that total she not only qualified for Senior Nationals but also earned enough points to be inducted into the USAW Masters Hall of Fame!

Proud is an understatement!

So proud of Nathan and Brad- Lifting on the big stage for their first time and they absolutely crushed it! Here’s what they had to say about it:

Favorite part about competing in Utah?

“Honestly coming to this huge stage knowing I put in the work. Regardless of how I performed before hitting the stage I knew all the work we put in and commitment to preparing for the event was worth it. I felt super confident (even though I was absolutely sh**ing my pants the morning of) and it made being their awesome.

I also really enjoyed shadowing you and Sean in the back coaching all the athletes. That was really cool seeing all that madness from a different perspective”
-Nathan

I’d have to say my favorite part of competing in Utah was the level of support that Calavera extended to me. To be able to witness the heartfelt commitment each coach had to every athlete was something I had never experienced before. Truly felt like I was part of a fam-OLY and I walked away very grateful with a new appreciation for all that goes into competing in a meet!
-Brad

Biggest takeaway?
“Oh man Ive drank the koolaid forsure lol I definitely feel like I’ve learned so much about myself and how much more I have in me because im the smallest fish in the pond. I’m really excited to get back to work and hopefully hit a huge stage like that again. I’m also really excited to get my L1 started as well.”
-Nathan

“My biggest takeaways would be that technique is key, motion is lotion, and trust in your coaches!“
-Brad

Just getting started!

Paige had herself a day at Nationals in Utah hitting personal bests in Sn**ch, C&J, Total! Leading up to the event, she had let me know how good she was feeling so I had a really good feeling about this meet. Sometimes it takes 11 years and 23 meets later to hit personal bests. Some just get better and stronger as they age!
Way to reverse the aging process Paige!

Sean Barclay has worked so hard this year nearing all-time bests in all of his lifts. He sustained an injury a week out from Nationals but decided that he would give it a go and see what he could do day-of. He showed a tremendous amount of grit going out there and powered himself to bronze medals all around! Way to go Sean! Way to dig deep!

What are some lessons that you have learned at Calavera that will help you in other aspects in life?

I think the biggest lesson I have learned at calavera is that technique is everything, before you can lift heavy you always have to have the technique down.

How have you dealt with some of your injuries and what makes you work so hard to overcome some of those obstacles along your way?

The biggest drive for me when I am recovering from injuries is to come back stronger and better. Injuries are the ultimate test for athletes but you can never give up.

Proud of you Bradley! Keep pushing, keep growing and keep attacking life the way you attack your workouts!

Competing in this sport has many benefits including getting out of your comfort zone, setting goals, building mental strength, staying disciplined and most importantly learning a lot about yourself. At Calavera we don’t just train, we compete!

Jayla Kirkland competed in her first official USAW competition at this year’s Battle Born Classic. She hit all her lifts going 6 for 6 and setting new personal best in sn**ch, clean and jerk and total!

Her favorite part of the battle born classic that was her first official competition was how supportive everyone was …. Coaches , participants, family everyone in the room even if they didn’t know me or were even a part of Calavera I could hear them cheering me on!

❤️❤️❤️💪💪💪

Way to compete Jayla! See you back on the comp floor soon!
