..Been suffering pretty hard this past month-in the fallout of Jay‘s untimely passing. I’d like to give some LOVE to the wonderful and loving woman who stood by Jay’s side during this time of hardship and pain… .s Thank you for all your love that you showed to our beautiful friend Jay. I’ll never be able to thank you enough. Much much love to you sweetheart. I’d also like to thank Todd Huber-Skateboarding Hall of Fame for taking on Jay Smith’s Memorial Service to be held today in Simi Valley. Unfortunately, I am committed to attending a memorial service for a close lady friend of mine today. We had an absolutely wonderful private memorial service for Jay last Sunday hosted by one of Jay‘s best old friends Adam Starr. Now, after nearly 25 years..6 Pro Models with Skaterbuilt and a whole lot of crazy and insane times together.. it’s now time for the skateboard community as a whole to gain closure over this tragic and saddening loss of our “Skate Legend in Denial” the “Layback Master” .. Jason Porter Smith. Rest In Peace. Jay Smith Forever! Ride For Jay. Be like Jay. Such a kind and sweetheart of a human.❤️ Peace and love to you all. ❤️

It’s been a painful week of processing Jay’s passing.. seeing all the pictures and reading all the online posts..Jay was a beautiful, sweet, simple and loving soul. I cherished our honest and caring friendship. And Jay was always so fun to be around..so rad to skate with..and absolutely insanely funny to hang with.. he has got to be one of the funniest f***s I’ve ever met in my entire life. We laughed a lot and always shared the same sense of humor. I’ve spent a lot of time with Jay over the last 25 years and gotta say that it was such a total blast! All the crazy stories of his early years as a San Fernando Valley skate rat. And his inside-stories on his early years with PP. And straight-up, no one, but no one loved Motörhead..early Iron Maiden.. and early Sabbath like Jay did.. we shared that love of music just like we shared our mutual love of humorously funny s**t! Jay didn’t really care to be remembered for the layback (but was honored by the accolades achieved because of it) and always got kind of funny when I referred to him as the “Layback Master” .. but I would tell him I called him that for a reason-because he was.. and is..and always will be The Layback Master! This photo was taken from a notorious skate photo session that we had at Etnies Lake Forest Skate Park back in 2004 .. they tried to kick us out of the skate park and called the city on us because our photographer wasn’t wearing a helmet and pads..ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!! …as I always ended my phone calls with Jay: “Roses are red..violets are blue. No one loves you like Davy do.” ..and he’d answer back with his.. “Love ya’ bud”❤️
