21 years practicing at Reston Yoga. 3,008 classes and counting. 🧘
Meet Bob, part of our community since July 2005, invited to his first class by his neighbor, who taught at Reston Yoga.
We asked him what got him started:
“It wasn’t my idea. Franky, our next-door neighbor and a friend of my daughter’s growing up, started teaching at the studio and invited me to try a class with her. I said yes mostly because I saw it as a mental and physical challenge; I wanted to prove to myself that I could tackle it. Then I showed up, not knowing what to expect, sweated like never before, and afterward felt a sense of cleansing throughout my entire body.”
And why he’s still practicing 21 years later:
“I’m still chasing that same feeling from day one. I’m still addicted to the challenge of the workout and to that good, hard sweat; it never gets old. Beyond that, the practice has helped me recover from many injuries over the years. But more than anything, it’s the people. I’ve met so many amazing folks on that mat, several of whom I now call friends. Between the challenge that keeps testing me, the meditation that keeps grounding me, and the community that keeps welcoming me back, it’s a pretty easy habit to keep.”
Bob’s also an avid cyclist, and he’s told us his yoga practice has directly helped his biking; better flexibility, strength, and recovery on the road.
Thank you, Bob, for 21 years of showing up. 🙏
