This week our runners tackled a new obstacle: the heat! Thanks to all who joined us on the trails

Our first Spring Family Fun Series event was a blast! Join us again tomorrow at 2pm for another friendly 5k or 1mi run

On this Global Running Day, we are reflecting on a very successful 5k Time Trial this past Saturday! Nearly 50 athletes participated in our time trial, in perfect spring weather near the shore of Reston's beautiful Lake Newport. This annual event is a great opportunity for friendly competition and benchmarking our fitness.

Race Spotlight! Last weekend, Reston Runners members competed in two major races in our region.

Gordon Newcomb and his sister Gabby competed in the Round Hill 5K on May 23 and both placed first in their age groups! Gordon crossed the finish line in 24:17, and Gabby in 32:34.

On Memorial Day, Jacob Stubbs and Sean Dillon competed in the Salute to Our Troops 5k. Their results are 21:22:.41 and 30:42.16 respectively. Jacob earned 2nd place in his age group!

A great crew out this morning for a long run Sunday from the North Point Village Center. Next week our Sunday 10 mile run start time shifts back to 7am to accommodate the warmer weather!

Our events are rain or shine. We had an intrepid group of runners last week that braved the rain and mud for a run through Algonkian Regional Park! Afterwards, we celebrated with a post-run potluck. Despite the rain, we enjoyed views of the Potomac and exploring some new trails!

Spring Family Fun Series is starting this weekend! Join us on Sundays at 2 pm on May 31, June 7 and June 14!

Bring the family or just yourself, and join us at Lake Newport Tennis area in Reston for one, several, or all events in our three-week series for a fun spring afternoon run along Reston pathways! There will be one mile and 5K distance options. Parent/guardian must accompany children under 14 years of age throughout the event. The event is self-timed (no times will be recorded) and no prizes will be awarded.

Congratulations to Ryan Groat and Kimberly Estabrook on running the 2026 Marine Corps Historic Half in Fredericksburg on May 17.

Congratulations to Pat Danielle-Kay and Leslie Stanfield for racing the Capitol Hill Classic 10k in DC! Pat placed 2nd in her age group.

Shoutout to our weekday morning crew! Showing up no matter the weather. Runners and walkers meet every Tuesday (Wiehle McDonald’s/Pupatella parking lot) and Thursday (Spectrum Center parking lot near La Madeleine) morning at 8am with an optional group breakfast afterwards!
