A little history.

Tucked into the far northeastern corner of Missouri, right along the Iowa border, sits the site of a small but historically significant Civil War engagement: the northernmost land battle of the entire war.
The Battle of Athens took place in August 1861 in the small river town of Athens, Clark County, when a poorly equipped Missouri Home Guard militia, loyal to the Union, faced an attacking force of pro-Confederate Missouri State Guard troops. Despite being outnumbered and under-supplied, the Union defenders managed to repel the attack, securing a small but meaningful victory that helped keep this corner of northeast Missouri firmly under Union control for the remainder of the war.
While the battle involved far fewer troops than the war’s larger engagements elsewhere in the state and country, its geographic distinction as the northernmost land battle of the entire Civil War gives it a unique place in the conflict’s broader story. The battlefield is preserved today as Battle of Athens State Historic Site, one of the best-preserved Civil War battlefields in Missouri, largely because the small town itself never grew significantly after the war, leaving the landscape remarkably unchanged.

Begin seated in Driver’s seat with both hands on the wheel
On the beep engage blue steel Alpha target through open rear passenger window 2 hits
Safely exit the vehicle keeping pistol pointed down range
Take cover behind the engine block, engage plate rack 6 hits
Move to rear of vehicle, engage blue steel Alpha target 2 hits
Safely reholster and remove rifle from vehicle
Move to cover behind strong side V-tac board
Engage 2 Throoms, 1 hit each from all open ports 14 hits

Unload and show clear Rifle

Advance to station 2 and engage 2nd Mozambique from behind cover, strong hand only
Advance to station 3 and engage 3rd Mozambique from behind cover, strong hand only
Safely reholster Pistol facing down range and move back through trench to tube
It’s a miracle, you are healed
Enter tube and advance to final shooting position
Engage 2nd Mozambique target with 2 hits to chest 1 to the head to end stage
Safely reholster pistol
Remove tourniquet and pouch

Advance to 2nd station, drop to prone firing position
Engage both targets from strong side cover, strong hand only, 1 hit each
Move to other side of cover and repeat with support hand only, 1 hit each
Advance to 3rd station, drop to kneeling firing position
Engage both targets from strong side cover, strong hand only, 1 hit each
Move to other side of cover and repeat with support hand only, 1 hit each
While kneeling, safely reholster pistol
Grab your buddy and drag him to safety past 1st shooting station
Engage both targets from behind cover with 1 hit each to end stage

Move on safe to Strong hand side of barricade
Engage Red Charlie through top square port with 1 hit, Safe and Move
Engage White Gong through lower square port with 1 hit, Safe and Move
Engage Blue Delta through angled port with 1 hit, Safe and Move
Engage Near Red Charlie through top horizontal port with 1 hit, Safe and Move
Engage Near Red Charlie through bottom horizontal port with 1 hit
Safe and Move to vertical port in center of barricade
Engage Red Charlie, White Gong, Blue Delta in that order from support side
Put rifle on safe and move to support hand side of barricade and repeat targets top to bottom firing with support side. 5 hits
