The Heart of a Cowboy
Some kids ride because it’s fun.
Some kids ride because it comes easy.
But every once in a while, you meet a kid who rides because his heart was born cowboy.
Jackson is that kid.
Despite physical challenges that would make most people step back, Jackson stepped forward—right into the arena, reins in hand and grit in his teeth. He didn’t just show up… he chose to barrel race and goat tie, with our 14-18 girls And he did it with a smile, a determined spark, and a courage that reminded all of us what this sport is really about.
Cowboy heart isn’t measured in seconds on the clock.
It’s measured in bravery, in try, in getting back up, and in chasing a dream even when the trail is rough.
And when Jackson finished his events?
He didn’t head for the bleachers or to go hang out with his friends he headed straight to the secretary’s office. He was always the first one there, ready to run errands, lend a hand, and help with anything that needed done. He made endless trips from the secretary’s office to the announcer stand. That kind of service, that willingness to pitch in even after giving his all in the arena, shows a heart as strong as any champion’s.
Jackson proved this year that ability isn’t what makes a cowboy—heart is.
He taught us that strength comes in many forms, that courage can look like a little boy climbing onto a big horse, and that the arena has room for every rider willing to give their whole heart.
We are proud of Jackson—his determination, his kindness, his grit, and the example he set for all of us. He didn’t just compete…
he inspired.
