If you are wondering how to keep in shape but don’t want to exercise by yourself, or tune into an online class, here are some alternatives:
1) Go get groceries, but don’t take the car.
2) Do the dishes by hand
3) Put some water in two empty milk jugs then, with one in eat hand, sweep the kitchen floor.
4) Go about your daily schedule on your hands and toes, don’t use your knees.
5) Get in and out of bed without using your legs.
6) Turn your lights on or off without using your hands.
Be advised, these exercises will probably make you sore and tired, but you will get stronger in different ways than you were expecting.
For those feeling down, or frustrated: no matter where you are or what you’ve done, you will always have a chance to make things better if you are willing to put in the effort.
Important notice for trying times: remember to do your breathing exercises. Even if you don’t feel like you can do much exercise at home, deep slow breaths heal relive stress, increase lung capacity, and reduce the risk of pneumonia.
A quick reminder for everyone at BYUI: Nan Taichi practices are now held Wednesday’s from 6:00-8:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to noon. All practices are held in Kirkham room 202. Please contact me for any questions.
