I understand that everyone's journey and goals will be different...let me help you find yours! I decided to become a fitness professional to help others learn to lead a balanced healthy lifestyle! For most of my life, I led a pretty sedentary lifestyle. That never seemed to be a problem for me until I hit my 40’s…this would be the start of years of yo-yo dieting and being out of shape. I never fel

I’m excited to share that I recently completed the OhioHealth Parkinson’s Disease Wellness Trainer Course! I have always believed in lifelong learning and I’m thrilled to expand my skills and knowledge. Exercise is essential for maintaining both physical and mental health. For people with Parkinson’s, exercise plays a crucial role in managing Parkinson’s disease and can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals with the condition.

Looking forward to applying what I’ve learned and continuing to help people reach their fitness goals!!

Workout session with my powerlifting training partner, Gabrielle Furrow, this past weekend.

I used 2 variations of the bench press in this session:

Foam roller— It’s difficult to see in the video but I have a foam roller under my shirt. When you don’t have an extra spotter to hold the roller or block you have to be creative. Lol! The foam roller limits your range of motion versus a standard bench press. I am currently using it to:

* Handle heavier weights compared to a normal bench press to help increase my standard bench press.
* Reduce stress on my shoulders. I have been rehabbing a bicep/shoulder strain and this allows me to continue training in a safe way.

Earthquake Bar — This specialty bar is extremely useful in helping to strengthen smaller stabilizer muscles in my shoulders using much lighter weights.

Gabby's focus was squat and she used a band resisted variation of the back squat. Some benefits of adding bands:

* Using bands this way creates increased resistance at the top of the movement which helps improve lockout strength in the finishing phase of the squat.
* Proper technique is essential when using bands. There is also added resistance at the top of the squat/starting position thus it requires good core stability and hip control.

Making progress on goals for 2025!!

I currently hold the USA Powerlifting State of Ohio records for squat, bench, and deadlift in the Masters 3a (age 60-64) 60kg weight class. My goal is to increase and hold my records. Here is a recent bench accessory workout. Accessory workouts are important to target and strengthen supporting muscle groups for the main lifts.

Hope you are crushing your goals too!!
