FAQs

Are they regulation bags? My bags measure 6" X 6" . I fill them with 15.2 oz (TW 1.58 oz) whole kernel corn. I use 10oz duck canvas, AKA duck cloth AKA cotton duck. The canvas weighs about a half ounce, so total weight is just shy of 16 oz. I use a 4-thread overlocking serger to sew and a standard sewing machine to close. I use industrial strength thread that I special order from The Thread

Exchange. What do you use for the designs? I usually print the design with fabric paint or fabric ink. The design is then heat set to ensure it will not come off. How I make the designs is a trade secret ;)

Will the design come off? Due to the nature of the game some scuffing is bound to occur, but the design will remain visible due to the way the fabric ink soaks into the fabric. In a word, No. See Corn Bag Care Dos and Don'ts below. Do you ship? While I prefer to sell locally, I am willing to ship for $10. I will email a Paypal invoice and will ship as soon as it's paid. Where are you located? I am located just off Brice Rd, where it turns into Gender Rd (see map). I don't make my exact address available until you notify me you are ready to pick up. What are corn bugs? They're called rice beetles or maize beetles, actually (thank you, Google). They are a nuisance and they can eat the corn. To ensure you will not get bugs, put them in the microwave for a 2-3 minutes. This will dry up any eggs and kill any that may have hatched. Don't worry too much about them, they're perfectly harmless unless you're grain. :)

Since September 4th I have changed my policy to include this treatment before I distribute the bags, so you will not need to do so. Those who purchased bags prior to September 4th should probably microwave them as a precaution. For the curious:

*There are some minor differences in preference between the organizations. I ACA says "The corn bags shall be made from two fabric squares with a quarter inch double stitched seam on all four sides. The corn bags should be made from 12 oz / sq yd duck canvas and may be any color that is easy to see during Co****le play. Each bag shall be filled with approximately 2 cups of corn feed and finished bags should be a minimum of 6" X 6" square and weigh between 14 and 16 ounces"
ACO is somewhat more flexible and says "Each bag is made from two fabric squares with double-stitched seaming. The bags should be made from a durable fabric like canvas, twill, or synthetic suede. Each bag measures roughly 6” by 6” and weighs 15 to 16 ounces." My standard bags adhere to both organizations' guidelines.
