Learning to autoregulate your training is important because it allows you to adjust on the fly if necessary.
Two simple approaches that can help with that are not wearing a belt and pausing your reps.
This limits the amount of weight can move while still focusing on other things like core engagement and full range of motion.
It also allows him to put his energy into the meat and potatoes of the session, which on this particular day was heavy deadlifts.

We walked .rogers03 through his deadlift session where the goal was to land on a final decision on whether he should wear a deadlift suit or not for his next strongman competition.
We worked up to a solid 535lb single which is a 10lb PR and only 15lbs shy of his best single in a suit. Suits are allowed at the show, but this is a perfect case of “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should”.
We ran into a similar situation a couple of years ago working with and his deadlift. Triple ply suits were allowed and everyone else was using one, but he opted for single ply since it was more comfortable and allowed him to be more successful with heavy deadlifts.
Moral of the story: take the time to learn what suits you best (pun intended) and make a sound decision that will result in your best performance and overall growth!
