It’s nice to all those late nights, early mornings & countless talks with The Most High didn’t go to waste…I’m just warming up
Why speed train?
Speed training is the greatest equalizer there is when it comes to sports. It improves all of the following:
✅ reaction time
✅ power output
✅ central nervous system efficiency
✅ improves strength
Why use a laser timing system?
Using a laser timing system gives you realistic data on linear & lateral based speed testing as well as agility testing (for systems who do so). It validates the work you put in and holds you accountable to you progress
There’s no doubt some are working hard but if you aren’t consistently assessing, training & testing your speed then are you really doing everything you possibly can to get better next season?
I was blessed to have some fun this past Saturday operating as the Speed Lab Lead for the Exposure Series Camp. S/o to the crew that helped make this the first of many great events!
This weekend showcased why training for speed is so important. There were moments where I could see a kid’s potential based on how they ran but just needing the right guidance. Film definitely plays a huge part in recruitment but if you want to grab attention at these camps, having really good verified measurables without question helps!
Far too often in life we overcomplicate things. Youth training happens to be one of them! At GHPS Youth Training is defined by the athletic & functional development for athletes in the 7th grade and under with training age appropriate progressions . The goal is and will always be prepare the athlete to dominate their sport.
Will the athlete sprint, absolutely!
Will the athlete do jumps & plyometrics, absolutely!
Will the athlete produce & resist force, absolutely!
The difference is to focus on movement patterns for where they are. Building up coordination, functionality, balance, and tendon health is a solid foundation for youth athletes.
