We recently wrapped up applications for the True Grit Farm & Flower internship opportunity, and I’ve been sitting with a deep sense of gratitude for the response.

More than 200 students and emerging professionals applied to spend part of their season with us learning about sustainable floriculture, storytelling, marketing, and mission-driven creative work.

To everyone who submitted an application, shared their experiences, or took the time to speak with us during interviews: thank you. There were so many thoughtful, intelligent, creative, and genuinely kind people throughout this process. I truly enjoyed getting to know many of you.

After much consideration, we’ve selected one candidate to join us this season. They checked so many of the boxes we were hoping for, and I’m really excited about the opportunity to work alongside her this summer.

I also want to extend appreciation to InternshipsVA and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership for supporting programs that help students and small businesses connect in meaningful ways.

One thing this process made very clear is that there are so many people looking for work that feels connected to something deeper. Work where sustainability, creativity, communication, and community can exist together.

That feels hopeful to me.

Thank you again to everyone who applied, shared the opportunity, or encouraged a student to connect with us. We’re grateful for the energy surrounding this little farm and all it’s becoming.

Flowers and glass speak the same language. Light, movement, texture, and transformation can be endured on May 30th. and True Grit Farm & Flower are coming together for an evening centered around slow creativity and working with your hands to create a beautiful piece.

Participants will learn the foundations of floral design using seasonal blooms before stepping into the hot shop to shape molten glass into a mini vase!

Not just a workshop, but an experience and chance to create something beautiful from the ground up. No experience necessary, just curiosity and a willingness to try something new.

This week I had the chance to speak about herbalism and plant medicine on local tv, sharing a little about how everyday plants can support wellbeing and reconnect us to the natural world.
Teaching herbal classes at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden has been one of the ways I get to keep the tradition of knowledge sharing moving forward. Grateful to Madison Moore at ABC8News for the invitation to talk about this work and why it matters. The full interview is linked in the bio.
More about herbal education, plant profiles, and upcoming classes soon.

When the little things start peeking through I know we’re on the way to bright greens and juicy fruits. Strawberries will be rip in about a month.

It’s spring again.
Which feels both familiar and brand new.

The beds are waking up. The soil is softening after winter’s quiet. Bulbs are pushing up toward the light of longer days. There is something fresh to tend, something to learn, something else that requires patience.

Farming flowers is a practice in hope. You plan months ahead, trusting that tiny seeds will become armfuls of beauty. Some mornings that trust feels easy. Other mornings it feels nerve-wracking. Weather shifts. Crops surprise you. There are a hundred things you can’t control.

Right now we’re planting, preparing, watching, and dreaming about the arrangements these flowers will become. Soon they’ll make their way into your memberships, meaningful gatherings, and the spaces where people celebrate, grieve, and mark the days that matter.

Stay close to the unfolding season, join the newsletter through the website. That’s where we share farm progress, floral releases, and opportunities to work together.

Spring #2 at True Grit Farm & Flower.
Let’s see what blooms.

Our first Valentine’s Day is complete and we are standing in the afterglow.

To everyone who preordered.
To everyone who trusted us with a same day surprise.
To everyone who sent love through petals instead of words.

This week was full of quiet moments behind the scenes. Stems trimmed. Ribbon tied. Notes of love written carefully. We watched bouquets leave the studio and head toward dining tables, office desks, kitchen counters, and hands that needed something beautiful to hold.

If your flowers are living with you now, we would love to see them where they landed. Tag us in your photos of petals in place at home or work so we can celebrate them with you.

Thank you for letting us be part of your stories.
