Please keep our friends at Sunrise in your thoughts as they had to put down their beloved mare, Bailey. We will miss her presence in the barn greatly.
It was a hard, sad day at the barn today.
We've lost one of our own. After a rapid onset of illness with fast progression, we laid our sweet Bailey to rest.
Bailey served our participants with the patient kindness that we love so much about our equine family. She took great care of those who needed more time to gain confidence, and challenged those who were ready. We're going to miss her gentle, quiet nature.
Please, share your best memories of Bailey in the comments to help us honor her, and we hope you find as much comfort in the poem as we do.
Right now, our barn family is grieving.
“Don't cry for the horses
That life has set free
A million white horses
Forever to be
Don't cry for the horses
Now in God's hands
As they dance and they prance
To a heavenly band
They were ours as a gift
But never to keep
As they close their eyes
Forever to sleep
Their spirits unbound
On silver wings they fly
A million white horses
Against the blue sky
Look up into heaven
You'll see them above
The horses we lost
The horses we loved
Manes and tails flowing
They Gallop through time
They were never yours
They were never mine
Don't cry for the horses
They will be back someday
When our time has come
They will show us the way”
