Upward Families,

This is just a friendly reminder that we will hold our basketball evaluations and cheerleading information table this coming Saturday. We hope everyone can make it, but completely understand if you've made other commitments far in advance of this event. Please touch base with me next week if you are unable to attend so that I can give you next steps.

Also, to be clear, this is not a try-out session of any kind. Your child will be placed on a team and teams are as balanced as we can form them based on the skills assessment of each player.

If you are new to Upward, I will be available for any questions you may have this Saturday.

When you arrive, parking might be challenging. You may find a spot in our Mulberry Street lot or any of the adjacent side streets (Monument and Park Avenue). Our church has a lot going on, so please be patient.

You will enter through the side double doors leading into our dining hall/gym area (there will be posted signs to direct you). Someone will be at a table to give you your registration form (the one you filled out online to register).

You will then go into the gym area and hand the form to a volunteer who will take your child's height and then your child will be asked to perform various foot movement-ball handling skills.

Lastly, if you have friends or neighbors who are looking for a basketball league, then bring them with you. They can register on paper at the evaluation. It is not too late! I intend to extend registration for a while longer.

Depending on the number of volunteers helping to get you and your family in and out as soon as possible, you may be waiting a little while. We try our best to move the process along expeditiously.

We're gearing up for another exciting season of Upward Basketball & Cheerleading at Richmond's First Baptist Church. Registration will be coming very soon so please check out our recreation webpage on the church website for details and follow the links.
