There are no uniforms, my studio is not stepford wives-esque. Wear what you feel comfortable in. Nothing that’s going to restrict your movement, no “hard pants” and please, no zippers.

Feet are the literal foundation of your body. They carry a lot of weight. They need to be able to move properly. When they don’t, your gait (the way you walk) is affected. When your gait is abnormal, you risk pain/injury up the kinetic chain, knees, hips and low back.
Give your feet some attention! The rest of your body will thank you!
According to the Cleveland Clinic
Cellulite is the name for collections of fat that push against the connective tissue beneath your skin. It often appears on your thighs, stomach and butt (buttocks). Cellulite makes the surface of your skin look lumpy and puckered, or appear dimpled.
Cellulite is very common. Between 80% and 90% of all women who’ve gone through puberty have cellulite. Less than 10% of men have cellulite.
Genetics, s*x, age, the amount of fat on your body and your skin’s thickness determine how much cellulite you have and how visible it is. As you age, your skin loses elasticity and can make the appearance of cellulite more evident. Gaining weight can also make the appearance of cellulite more prominent.
Although people with obesity have pronounced cellulite, it’s not uncommon for very lean people to notice the appearance of cellulite.
In summary: gender, hormones, genetics, weight fluctuations, physiology all play a part. It is what it is.

The studio is closed until July 13 while I enjoy some time with family and friends and reset my nervous system.
Happy July 4th and stay cool! 😎
Goals are good. Goals provide focus. Maybe your goal is to carry your grandkids the two blocks to the playground. Maybe your goal is to climb a flight of stairs without death gripping the railing. Maybe your goal is to walk 10 blocks in Barcelona to take a painting class. Maybe your goal is to hike Machu Picchu. Whatever your goal, Pilates can help get you there.
Movement IS my medicine. Until it’s not. Until it’s the thing that breaks me. I process my thoughts, my emotions by moving my body. But when I am holding on to too much, my body starts to betray me, and doesn’t let me move the way I want to.
You don’t need to earn your rest. Rest is required. Rest is recovery. It’s not optional. There’s a reason sleep deprivation is used as a torture technique. 😳
Small business owners need those 5-star Google reviews in order to reach bigger audiences and grow. But there’s nothing quite like a sincere, face to face “Good Job! Keep up the good work!”
Dying. 🤣
The vibration plate…. Maybe it’s a fad or gadget or dumb. But it has some definite benefits and some theoretical ones too.
Potential benefits/relief for lymphedema, fibromyalgia, osteopenia/osteoporosis. You can do this standing “still” or there are exercises you can do while trying to balance on this “crazy thing”. I’ve been trying out different settings and different movements for the last few weeks on it. Available to any client who wants to end their session with 10 minutes (as that is the recommended and preprogrammed time) being gently shaken, not stirred.
(My b***s, belly and butt shake and it makes me laugh, which makes them shake more. Good times here at Bia Fit!)
A little short box work on a Sunday morning.
My focus on this exercise, this rep, for THIS client was to get the fleshy part of her b***y out of the way so her lumbar spine flexes. I work with and for the body that is in front of me. I don’t nit pick and make you look like the pictures in my textbooks. Why?! Because my clients are not 5’2” 100 pound former ballerinas. They’re not going to look like that. I am not going to look like that. I cue muscles and movement. And no, I do not correct every single thing on every single rep. Why? Because good lord, I like to let my clients MOVE THEIR BODIES.
That is all. Enjoy your day!

A plank is not just holding everything off the ground. A plank involves every muscle group in your body. Strong stable shoulders. Deep, strong abdominal connection. Contraction of the glutes and adduction of the inner thighs, while also reaching through your heels and lengthening out through the top of your head.
When doing a plank you should not be able to be pushed over. You’re one solid piece. Immovable. Strong foundation.
Good metaphor for life.
