Technique Tuesday
Having a conversation about staying disciplined when confronted with emotional aggression, learning to read the opening, and understanding how the opening movements of our techniques can simplify a situation and help bring it to an end.
Kenpo techniques were never designed to be performed uninterrupted like a choreography. They are case studies in motion. Each technique gives us a framework for studying timing, positioning, angles, targets, and patterns of movement.
When those patterns are drilled through our basics and techniques, they become familiar. That familiarity helps build muscle memory and positional recognition, so when a situation changes, we’re not trying to remember a sequence. We’re recognizing an opportunity and responding to what is actually happening.
