Yes!! Free doggo and free lunch!

Too cute not to share❤️

Stealing is not only a crime but it is morally wrong too. Some jobs, like that of being a police officer, require you to take an oath prior to starting. Within the officer's sworn oath is the promise to protect person's property.

That being said, it saddens me to report that a current officer of the Wyandotte Police Department is under investigation for stealing!

The incident happened two days ago at the station. Ofc. Barwig was eating lunch in the breakroom when he was called to assist with a person in the WPD jail. He quickly jumped into service, leaving his half eaten lunch on the table. A short while later Barwig and another officer returned to the breakroom only to find Ofc. Ice leisurely strolling out of the room licking his chops. Barwig's entire lunch was gone....disappeared, vanished!

Ofc. Ice has invoked his fifth amendment right to remain silent and quite frankly is not cooperating with the investigation. He has a history of rummaging through trash cans that are within his reach. There have been several other accusations of him taking food right from coworker's hands as they walk by.

WPD will consider our Facebook followers opinions on how to proceed with this investigation.

How unprocessed trauma is stored in the body 02/15/2020

The brain and body clearly hold on to trauma whether we choose to acknowledge it or not. But as the article points out, “Meditation and physical activity, such as yoga, also deliver real results in this release and can help the healing process.” ❤️ 💯

Even Stephen: A tip of the hat to our first responders 05/28/2019

This article is pretty awesome! Not only speaking to the uncanny feeling one can get when you know the folks that arrive to your house when your loved ones are most in need, but more importantly...the necessity to consistently take care of your body....🚔🚒🚑.

Even Stephen: A tip of the hat to our first responders   I never thought I would see the day that going to the doctor's office would be part of my monthly routine. Until last year, the only times I went to the hospital were to…

Yoga for First Responders: 5 Strategies for Stress + Trauma

Police officers, firefighters, and others who face extreme stress and trauma on a regular basis can find peace in asana, breath, and affirmation.

1. It only takes 3 minutes.

Many people avoid a daily mindfulness practice because of lack of space, energy or desire to roll out a yoga mat and dedicate an hour or more to this work. The good news is, it only takes three minutes of mindful breathwork to effectively calm the nervous system. Imagine life as a snow globe that’s being shaken and all the particles are flying about. Your mindfulness practice is setting that snow globe down, allowing the particles to settle. Any time you feel a trigger from the nervous system or an unwanted emotional response, pause what you’re doing and take three minutes to reset—at your desk, in your car, wherever you are.

2. Breathe first.

Anytime an overwhelming sensation begins to take hold, try this simple breathwork: Begin to breathe through the nose rather than the mouth. Drop the breath down low into the belly, like you are inflating a balloon inside your abdomen. Extend the exhale longer than the inhale. All of these things will hit the “calm button” in the nervous system. This is also great to do if you are having a hard time falling asleep.

Just a Number: Yoga can help treat depression and anxiety 10/14/2017

Recently posted by a friend.....this message is the same one we as instructors are constantly trying to convey to anyone who doubts the transformative effects regular practice can have in someone's life'

My initial response:
"It has been implemented in academies and departments across the nation with much success. The regular and consistent practice of Yoga among populations who work in environments of acute stress has shown in recent randomized medical research trials to lower the number of job injuries, sleep disturbances, blood pressure and hypertension symptoms, and hyper-vigilant response patterns. It also simultaneously increases resiliency to the harsh and negative effects of stress. Research also reflects that the number of positive life changes rises. These changes include better diets and less alcohol consumption. This is believed to be a result of a student’s eventual ability to control their sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, thus lowering the overall desire to self-medicate."

Just a Number: Yoga can help treat depression and anxiety According to a stress survey by the American Psychological Association, more than 25 percent of Americans are experience high levels of stress, anxiety and depression. Many people are looking for alternative ways to deal with the problem, besides medication
