RODI installed for a client. No more hauling water across town
What a fun tank install. 15 year old acrylic had better days. Replaced with a custom built tank by planet aquariums. The tank is between 2 rooms and is double sided. Dual overflows peninsula style with the electrical going through the overflows. Next step is replacing the old wet dry trickle filter with a full sump then will be ready to start growing coral.
As requested an expandable frag rack! $35 for the set
Phytoplankton available!
Dinoflagellates.
Something I get asked alot about is how to get rid of Dinoflagellates. The first thing I always say is you need to look at them in a microscope try find out what kind you have. Its frustrating to hear this but I wanted to take a few minutes today and explain why I say this and why it matters. The videos I attached to this post shows 2 different types of Dinoflagellates. The first video is of Dinoflagellate Amphidinium. The second video is Dinoflagellate Coolia. To the naked eye they look almost identical but under a microscope you can see the different shape and movement. To treat amphidinium you need to raise silicates to create a diatom bloom to out compete the dinos. To treat Coolia you need to run UV sterilizer at night. Coolia goes into the water at night and amphidinium goes deep into the sand bed. The other dinoflagellates we are common in our hobby are dinoflagellate ostreopsis, and Dinoflagellate Prorocentrum. I do offer help and ID service as well.
Finished the aquascape!
