A Great Weekend in the Field at Hastings!

The new season is underway, and there’s nothing quite like these early-season days at the Club. Beautiful weather, great-looking pheasants, and plenty of good dog work made for another memorable weekend at Hastings Island.

In the photo on the left, member Curtis Enyart is pictured with his dog “Jake” and his hunting buddy, Cody. In the photo on the right, Tony and Chrissy Sacco are pictured with their dog “Patty.”

Judging by the smiles—and the birds—it looks like both groups had a lot of fun and enjoyed successful hunts!

The birds are looking terrific, the dogs are happy to be back at work, and there’s a whole season ahead of us. This may just be the best time of year at Hastings!

⚠ROAD CLOSURE ALERT - HIGHWAY 113 INTO HASTINGS ISLAND 9/23-24.

The Reclamation District will be performing asphalt work on its paved levee road into Hastings Island from HWY 113 on Wednesday 9/23 and Thursday 9/24. This section of road will be closed for several hours each day.

We highly recommend using the Rio Vista route via Liberty Island Road when traveling to Hastings Island on Wednesday and Thursday.

Opening Weekend at Hastings!

Beautiful weather, great-looking birds, good dogs, and plenty of smiles made for a terrific first weekend of the new season. This really is one of our favorite times of year at Hastings—the fields are ready, the birds look great, and a whole new season is ahead of us.

It’s great to see everyone back in the field. We’re off to a great start and looking forward to another fun season at Hastings Island Hunting Preserve!

The countdown to opening day is on!

Hastings Island Hunting Preserve has a few remaining preseason rooster shoots before the season opener on Saturday, September 19.

During a recent preseason hunt, Steve Vigil and his dog Chase brought in the first pheasants of the new season during one of these hunts at the Club. The birds look great, Chase did his job, and it looks like they had plenty of fun in the field!

We can’t wait for the official Season to start. We look forward to seeing you at the Club, soon.

Don’t forget that some of the best weather and best hunting occurs early in the season!

Another successful Hunter Safety graduate at Hastings Island!

Knox Brownwood-Hill looks pretty darn happy—and for good reason! Knox passed his Hunter Safety course this past weekend and proudly shows off his new certificate.

His next step will be to get his hunting license, and we hope to see him back at the Club this season with his parents, putting that new Hunter Safety certificate to good use.

Congratulations, Knox! We hope this is the beginning of many great days in the field.

A great weekend at Hastings Island Hunting Preserve!

The Club hosted a Hunter Safety class this past weekend, and while sons Nelson and Issac were busy completing their hunter safety training, Dimitri Seletzky headed out to enjoy our preseason rooster shoot.

A pretty good way for the whole family to spend a day at the Club — and Dimitri even brought back a nice rooster!

Congratulations to Nelson and Issac on taking an important step toward becoming safe and responsible hunters.

DRUM ROLL................. and we have a brand new Trap Shoot Champion Duke Lamb. Congratulations to Duke, who beat our prior 4 year in a row champion Caleb Harris. Duke's name will be added to our Club Trophy and proudly displayed in the Clubhouse. Thanks to everyone that took part in the competition, it was a fun day!!

The Pre-Season Rooster Shoots are a fun event to get you and your dogs revved up for the new season. Ricky Acosta with his pups Fancy and Piper and Jim Shaw with Sadie had a great time in the fields this week. The Rooster Shoots are $175/4 Birds and $375/10 Birds. Spaces are limited so please call and make a reservation so that the Club can make sure we have enough birds to accommodate you!!

It was a “Vizsla weekend” at Hastings Island Hunting Preserve!

We enjoyed having a great group of Vizsla enthusiasts out at the Club last weekend, getting in some field training with two 11-week-old puppies, Chip and Louise. There’s nothing quite like watching young dogs start putting all that enthusiasm and instinct to work in the field!
