It has been an absolutely crazy week! I left Monday afternoon for Republic where I judged the horses at the Ferry County Fair. Detoured home Wednesday night with the ferry out. Up early Thursday morning to take three horses into fair. Sterling rode in the littles gymkhana, I rode in the big kid one, and then stayed for a jackpot gymkhana Thursday evening where Marvel and I won all four events: Cal Stake ( I have not ran that sense college days), poles, barrels, and the groups own and quite interesting version of keyrace.
A lesson client, Dove borrowed Mazee for the afternoon gymkhana and won her age division highpoint.
Laura and Heather also competed and both had some huge wins on their patterns. They are working through some herd bound issues with their mares.
Friday I watched clients show, and Dove win Sr 4H highpoint.
I then went to work for awhile. Came home, loaded two horses back up, and back to fair where Mazee and I packed a sponsorship flag for the rodeo grand entry and then Marvel and I ran barrels in slack. She put in an honest effort, but the ground wasn't her jam and she saftied up. More rodeo type runs and I have no doubt she'll figure it out as she is really trying to work.
Today I bathed horses, and headed back to fair with three.
Marvel won the KA Autumn Memorial Trophy again for top halter horse after winning top halter mare.
Sterling and Mazee were 4th in halter mares and he was third in walk/trot Western Equitation--and his cousin Emily won that class on Mr. Clue that she has been riding all summer. Clue and Emily also won top halter gelding. Both Sterling and Emily also rode trail, but both horses knew it wasn't me riding them and they really didn't have to do anything. 😂
I rode a mare I have in for training in Western Pleasure and Western Equitation where we placed 2nd in both classes under a super cool, finished gelding. We also competed in command class, but her baby brain was drained. And trail was definitely not her idea of fun. 😂 But Stephanie and her big black scary Fresian won it!
Heather and Laura again rode and man their mares are buddied up, but they again got through the day.
Then tonight Mazee and I again carried a sponsorship flag for the rodeo before heading home.
Sterling is sick. And I am just flat out exhausted. But am sure we will do it all again next year.
Thank you to Brent and Grammy Jeanie and Grandpy for making sure Sterling made all his classes despite feeling miserable (and he was given the chance MULTIPLE times to be done, but he trucked through it all!)
