Every strong swimmer had someone teach them the basics — what if that someone was you? Our Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course is the gold standard in swim instructor training, backed by the American Red Cross.

Between the Chesapeake Bay, the rivers, the marinas, and all the summer camps around Annapolis, waterfront lifeguards are always in demand around here — and now there's a course built specifically for it.

This one prepares you to lifeguard real waterfront environments — lakes, rivers, ponds, and other non-surf open water settings — not just the pool.

What you'll gain:
🛟 Real-world rescue skills for reaching, rescuing, and assisting distressed swimmers
🚨 Emergency response training for injuries, sudden illness, and critical situations
❤️ CPR/AED & First Aid certification
👀 Scanning, hazard recognition, and prevention strategies
🤝 Team-based lifeguarding and communication skills
📜 A nationally recognized American Red Cross credential

Open water season isn't over yet! Here are your three weekly options at Sylvan Shores, all coached by Traci McNeil:

🌅 Friday Early Birds — Fridays, 6:45–8:00 AM. $25/session, ages 16+.
☀️ Sunday Morning — Sundays, 9:30–11:00 AM. $35/session, ages 10+. (Sept 13, 20, 27)
👥 Wednesday Small Group — Wednesdays, 5:30–6:45 PM. Small-group coaching for intermediate/advanced swimmers, ages 15+. $55/session. (Sept 16, 23 & 30.)
