I recently watched a fascinating interview with **Sebastián Jiménez**, the 2010 Tango de Pista World Champion and, at just 18 years old, the youngest World Tango Champion in history. Beyond his extraordinary dancing, what impressed me most was his perspective on the social culture of Buenos Aires milongas.

One thought especially stayed with me.

Sebastián shared that in many traditional Buenos Aires milongas, the long-time milongueros—the people who have spent decades living and breathing tango—often sit together, and they are deeply respected by the community. Not because they dance the fanciest steps, but because they carry something far more valuable: the history, the codes, the traditions, and the authentic feeling of tango. Their presence reminds everyone where this dance comes from.

I thought that was such a beautiful idea.

Imagine walking into a milonga and knowing that some of the people around you have experienced tango through generations of teachers, orchestras, and unforgettable nights on the dance floor. What stories they could tell. What small details they notice. What wisdom they quietly pass on simply by sharing the space.

Our experienced dancers are living pieces of tango history. They help preserve the etiquette, the atmosphere, and the spirit that make a milonga feel like a milonga.

Perhaps one of the nicest traditions we can continue building in our own community is simple curiosity. Say hello. Ask a question. Listen to a story. You may discover that some of the most valuable tango lessons don't happen in a class—they happen in a conversation between tandas.

Tango belongs to all generations, and every generation has something unique to contribute. ❤️
