A song of Leather and Kydex

I started tinkering with leather in 2005. In 2006 I started working at Grommets Cutlery and gifts as a sales associate, while continuing to tinker with leatherwork. Most knife companies put minimal thought into their sheaths, so I started offering custom sheaths for common knives. At the time I had been training in Historical European Martial Arts for a few years, and with the stores connection to the renaissance faire scene I was also getting a lot of requests for leather armor and sword gear.

I continued to grow the leather shop over the years, making sheaths, armor, gun holsters, and various custom leather goods. In 2012 Grommets Cutlery’s store manager Cody started dabbling in Kydex sheaths, offering them to customers who wanted something other than leather. In 2014 I started an Etsy page, offering a few standard selections, expanding to a full line of Leather and Kydex sheaths, leather armor, and an ever expanding line of leather holsters.

By 2017 we had over 100 items available on out Etsy page, started www.grommetsleathercraft.com and continue to offer the best custom leather and kydex gear available.
