Great polo this weekend Rebellis Polo club - 6 Goal Eastern Arena Challenge Cup. Liberty Hall won with Zak, Dan and Pepe.
Feature story on Joseph “Pepe” Ferguson - sometimes a win is just bigger.
This weekend he competed in the Warrenton Horse Show Hunt night (est 1899 - the oldest horse show in the nation) and took the Junior Hunt Championship, then Monday was MVP at the 6 goal with TWO 2-point shots in the game.
Diversity is key to all equestrian sports - ride everyday and every way.
Joesph started the program with us in 2023, attending a free clinic we hosted for the kids school friends. His family runs Summerduck Run Farm and his mom Petrina rounded up horsey kids to come and try it all out. Joesph decided polo whites were less objectionable than hunt breeches - and polo player he became!
Dan re-named him “PePe” as he was far too young to have a serious name like Joseph. At the 2024 PTF Summer Camp he earned the handle “The Goon” for his willingness to slam into just about any obstacle to keep opponents from scoring. He’s been living up to it ever since.
In the Spring he started his first polo horse - Star - given to him by a neighbor, just 4 years old and a GO GO mare.
For winning MVP - he received a Pelham bridle set from Tatos. His first piece of real polo tack for his first real polo mare. Definitely a bridle that will be treasured forever.
AND he drove 6 horse trailer to the game! Drivers permit just 2 months old.
We’ve been coaching for 12 years now - and let me tell you Kids definitely Suck. BUT man sometimes they really show you the work is worth it. 😉
