Star City Taekwondo

We had a blast at our pool party today! If you missed it, you can get your belt in class next week and we hope you’ll make it next year. We have a feeling this was one we will be telling stories about for years to come. Tentative date for next year: August 7, 2027.

Three of us travelled to Charlotte this morning to do an awesome workout with Mr. Wilson, Mr. Dang, and Mr. Baxter. We learned some cool new drills to bring back and got lots of feedback on our forms and sparring from SEVENTH and EIGHTH degree black belts! And we were back in time for (most of the) classes! Traveling to other schools is a great way to improve and prepare for testing. We had so much fun we are going back to the area again next week and bringing one more. Thank you Mr. Wilson (not pictured) for your hospitality!

Mr. Jamari Savage loves tournaments so much, he hadn’t had enough after last week so he went to the Southern Region’s regional tournament today in Knoxville, TN (we are in the Southeastern region and had our tournament last weekend). He earned gold medals in forms and continuous sparring, silver in point break sparring, judged all day, and got some good feedback. Way to represent Star City TKD Jamari! We love how much you love tournaments (even if you don’t love smiling for the camera).

The regional tournament in Blacksburg last weekend was an absolute blast. So many great memories made. We hope you had fun, made a new friend, and took pride in your martial arts journey. We can’t wait for our all school (or possibly 2 school) tournament on September 19. Mark your calendars!

We are so excited to hang out with everyone poolside and finish up the summer with friends! More info coming in your email.

We worked hard all week pushing our limits in workouts, bonding, spitballing drill ideas, and laughing more than we probably should at instructor camp this week. On the last day, we took everyone out to Cici’s. What a great camp. We are already excited for next year!

Ten of our Star City Taekwondo black belts—many of them just returning from Taekwondo America’s Master Experience—traveled to Mooresville, NC yesterday to train at Lake Norman Taekwondo America alongside more than 30 black belts from schools throughout the Charlotte area.

We learned so much, challenged ourselves, and had an amazing time. Opportunities to train with martial artists from other schools are always worthwhile, and we’re so glad we made the trip.

A huge thank you to Master Phuoc Dang for leading such a great workout and for your hospitality. We can’t wait to do it again!
