Another day working out final logistics for the upcoming route-66 ride. Found safe passage under Hwy 13 on a very cool greenway trail.

Sharing images of the old Gasgonade River Bridge, no longer passable but a cool spot for a waterstop and photo-op.

The Shamrock Court Motel on Old Route 66 was built around 1947/48 and was originally owned and operated by the Dodd's for about 5 years.

Later it was purchased by the late John and Rose Weiland in 1953, relocating there from the Chicago area. The motel and property purchased was originally about 8 acres, and was part of a development called Shamrock Village owned by the O'Reilly family.

The Weiland's oldest son John Jr. (Jay) was already part of the family when moving to Sullivan. Eventually two other sons were born, Guy in 55', and William (Billy) in 57'. Together with their three sons they operated the motel until around 1980, when rooms were converted into 4 two room apartments.

In 2021, Roamin Rich Dinkela and his Wife Christina purchased the Shamrock court to see that it is properly restored and eventually put back into working condition. Check them out on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/shamrock66/about

The Historic Mill Creek Methodist Episcopal "ME" Church will host our 2nd Water Stop on our ride from Waynesville to Rolla.

Built in 1887, the One-Room Church was the center of Community and Worship in this little valley south of Newburg.

The US Forest Service purchased the Church and surrounding homesteads in the 1960's. By 2015 the church was scheduled to "Melt in Place" until it was purchased and moved to private property where it was restored by Mark & Diana Dean with support from the USFS and expert friends and neighbors.
