Walking off the track this morning feeling strong and accomplished 💫
It was pretty humid when I started at 6am and already warm, but I felt good 💪
Now time for a couple hours of work, redoing my bathroom, library time with my boys, and whatever else the day brings 🙌
Have a great Tuesday and go get it 👊

IT 👏 WON’T 👏 EVER 👏 BE 👏 PERFECT
Some days/weeks I’ve got it all together. Other days/weeks I don’t. Simple as that.
However, I’m still a mother runner. I’m still committed. Just sometimes life and kids come first and I do the best I can.
I coach a lot of mama runners and we talk a lot about getting upset or discouraged when the week isn’t perfect. It’s a mindset shift that takes time
I want to remind you all, parent or not, hiccups in your weeks, days, or schedule do not define you. Let me repeat, THEY 👏 DO 👏 NOT 👏 DEFINE 👏 YOU!
You are still a runner. You are still committed. You aren’t a failure. You can STILL DO THIS!! 🙌

4+ THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE TRACK 🏃🏼♀️
Have you wanted to go to the local track to run but you haven’t known the rules or etiquette so you haven’t gone?
I didn’t run track & field in high school so I didn’t know the rules until I started running later in life and I remember being nervous, not sure why 😂
So, here are 4 things to keep in mind when you go to a track
1️⃣ typically, the track direction is counterclockwise but some tracks can vary so check for a posted sign
2️⃣ 4 laps around just about equals 1 mile. 1 lap = 400m or a 1/4 mile
3️⃣ if you are walking, it is appreciated to stay to the outside as the runners are running the inner lanes
4️⃣ if you need to pass someone, pass them on the right (assuming you are running counterclockwise)
Other good things to know include things like if you are running and decide to stop, make sure there isn’t someone right behind, and look back before you cut across lanes
Today I had the track to myself basically the whole time, which is always nice 😆
If the track was new to you, were you unsure of it all when you first went? 👇

Truth - I haven’t done speed work since last summer 🙊 today was my first one since umm I think August? 😬
To be even more honest, my running really suffered from last June-December of 2020 when I really started feeling a lot of what 2020 was giving out and when I returned to the full time corporate life
I ran during that time but nothing of substance. Nothing to truly improve or make fitness gains. I was sort of just floating by to get to the end of 2020.
A couple months ago I quit my corporate job and I’ve spent the last 6 months running all easy efforts and really building a solid base. During that time I’ve also been going to CrossFit 3x a week 💪
And now I feel ready, both physically and mentally, to gain back the speed and start building my workouts 💨
Reminder ⭐️ you don’t HAVE to do workouts. Yes, they will help improve fitness, improve V02max, overall running economy, but you don’t HAVE to do them.
For me last year, the workouts were causing more stress to my body that I was not recovering from quick enough. But now, I’m in a really good place physically and mentally that I feel good to get my legs turned over now 💪
Do you do workouts year round or do you ever just run easy efforts with no focus on speed?

On June 14, 1777, the American Flag was adopted as the official American Flag by the Second Continental Congress 🇺🇸
The stripes represent the original 13 Colonies and the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well; red symbolizes hardiness and valor, white symbolizes purity and innocence, and blue represents vigilance, perseverance and justice 🇺🇸
To me, the flag means many things, all of which I’m proud to stand by. To stand by my older and younger brother who serve in Army and served in the Navy. My countless cousins who serve or have served. It’s their sacrifices that allow me to live my life the way I want to live
Being patriotic isn’t political, it’s American, and I’m proud to be an American ✌️
Happy Flag Day 🇺🇸

Early miles.
Sunrise views.
Cooler temps.
Birds chirping.
Good company.
Today’s run felt perfect and it’s days like this that I remember how much I love this sport and how lucky I am that I get to do what I do 🙏
It’s a good day to run and a good day to smile. Have you done either today?? 🤩

Happy Global Running Day!! 🏃🏼♀️
What does running mean to you?
What has running done for you?
Running has taught me to press on when things start to get hard and uncomfortable. There’s so much that you learn through running that translates over to your daily life:
Perseverance
Toughness
Grit
Gratitude
Compassion
It’s a sport that I’ll never turn my back on, no matter how many times it has tried to break me
What’s one thing running has taught you that translated over to your personal life? 👇

Happy Memorial Day 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I got some miles in early this morning and it was such a peaceful run. Sun was rising. No wind. No cars on the country roads. Roosters were crowing. Deer were watching me. It was perfect.
Spent my run celebrating life and remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and how grateful I am for them 🇺🇸
