Oak Hill Country Club (Fitchburg) - 419-456 Yd Par 5 10th Hole - Architect: Donald Ross - A short par 5 and best chance at birdie begins the outward loop on the Donald Ross back 9 a few steps from the winding Oak Hill Road that separates the front from the back. Perched above the expansive fairway, the tees present the uphill struggle to come well. With only a small bunker 230 yards from the tee and an encroaching tree line down the right, the golfer can let loose a bit here in hopes of pushing the ball up the slope enough to go for the green in two. Staggered bunkers complicate the layup short of the crowned green complex fresh off a minor restoration. The front left mound has been raised to further challenge long approaches into the false-fronted green and expansion around the surface perimeter has resulted in a few more pinnable locations.

The PGA's Historian Emeritus, Bob Denney, witnessed many pivotal Ryder Cup moments over his 28 years at the PGA of America. One of the more recognizable highlights for him was a weekend at Oak Hill in 1995, which happened to be the first Ryder Cup he ever attended. It was a short course in how quickly momentum shifts in the Ryder Cup.
