From firmly believing that poles were for decoration only and NOT to be stepped over- to learning new commands, stepping into tires, and nose-down floating over two whole poles. Thank you, Val Rizzo for putting the tools in our toolbox for this success!

Freezing weather means lots of sleepy snuggles with Colden to stay warm. And taking the opportunity to finish our RRP application! Submitted ✔️

In case there was any more evidence needed that Colden is actually a unicorn in brown clothing I think these vet notes sealed the deal 🦄

I am really enjoying the brain on this boy 🤓
From belly bands to long lining he has picked up so many new skills with nothing but grace and class in his first 10 days in training.
I decided to try to get confirmation shots of him while I was alone at the barn— assuming it was going to be a fool’s errand and I would need to wait for a helper. But this super smart boy let me set him up and hung right there while I backed up to get the photos.
And he demands that every working session ends with a good snuggle.

December 7th we started work “under saddle” with a ba****ck hack while we were still on the search for tack that fit this big withered boy
Colden loved his appointment with Patchwork Saddlery 🎉 and we are excited to have them on our team to figure out a jump and dressage saddle that are going to work for this guy.
In the meantime, he looks pretty cute in his western tack. 🥰
And I have enjoyed hacking around this well mannered boy on a loose rein while he figured out his new job is a little different from his last one 🐎

Nov 22nd I got a call about a friends horse who was still on the track. I had sent everyone I could think of to go see this cool guy and he had even been marked “sold” on at least one occasion.
But here we were 3 days until Thanksgiving with his trainer having plans to leave the area the following Monday. And him still trying to find his next home.
So the day before Thanksgiving, Can’tweallgetalong “Colden” walked off the trailer and became the third horse in “my herd.”
