Take a deep breath.
Now—how did you do that?
Did the breath get bigger? Faster? Move into your chest? Did your shoulders or neck get involved?
Breathing well isn’t necessarily about taking more air in. Sometimes it’s about slowing down enough to notice how you’re breathing in the first place.
Your breath changes with movement, effort, stress, rest and attention. Learning to notice those changes is part of learning to breathe well.
Breathing is a practice.
If you’d like to explore it with me, join a Somatic Yoga or breath class live online or in the studio, or work with me one-on-one.
Breathe well. Move well. Feel more.
