Cooler temps made for a pleasant session in the Adirondack Park after some Native Brookies!

Not that anyone was asking, but I do believe if there is anything that even comes close to being as epic as swinging a streamer, it has to be smacking the surface with a large elk or deer hair fly and watching the fish feed with reckless abandon.

Something needs to be said.
We have a very interesting and extremely ignorant situation unraveling in around Irondequoit Creek at the moment. This is a lengthy and multifaceted backstory but here is a
Quick recap. After many years of stocking Brown Trout into the creek, the decision to stop stocking " some" of these fish has been made. This is a GOOD thing! This means that the fishery is healthy enough to no longer put synthetic fish over top of Naturally reproducing WILD fish. This is a huge win for our local Conservation efforts.
All other opinions on this matter that suggest stocking continue are a denial of math, science, and factual based findings.
As a community, we should all be applauding this change and be happy that our conservation efforts have paid off. We applaud the DEC and their fisheries biologists for making the appropriate decision.
Please share this . Please encourage others to seek the factual data on the DEC web page and please speak up for the fish and the fishery. We are the advocates for this fishery.

Howdy!
I’ve been super busy and am guilty of neglect on the social media platforms. As my interests grow and my focus broadens, I have decided to take some time to get some much needed training. I am not going to stop guiding for the monsters that so many of you love, but I definitely want to focus more where my passion is and spending more time on blue lines and chasing waterfalls instead of synthetic fish.
As many of you know, I decided I was going to open a rather large outfitter a few years ago and at the last minute, I pulled the plug on it. Partially because I really wanted to flush my life savings down the drain ( single tear drop falls) but mostly because I have other ideas.
Over the past few months I have been updating my licensure’s for guiding to include some more backwoods and wilderness activities as well as reviewing and seeking some additional certifications for wilderness first aid as well as water and watercraft related safety.
I still plan on bringing Mend Outdoors into reality, but as opposed to a brick and mortar, a guide service that not only covers ethical catch and release fishing, but also overnight adventures that bring to life all elements of just how important getting lost in nature is to our wholistic and personal mental well being.
Stay tuned.
Also, I’m still a fishing l guide. Hit me up.

You know what’s fun?
Throwing streamers the size of small rodents for Smalljaws.
I have open dates late April and into May as well as the usual offerings. Additionally, we will be working a bunch of simple fly fishing dry fly techniques in the Fingerlakes throughout the spring and summer.
Come and learn how to simplify your game and enjoys beautiful wild fish.

Have you figured out that voting for republicans is no longer in support of the outdoor community and conservation efforts?

Thank you to everyone who made my tout bum existence a reality for yet another year. There is nothing in the world that I love more than being outside in Upstate NY! I live in the most beautiful place in the world and it means the world to me to be able to share small moments of it with others! Hope the end of the year brings happiness to you all and that it continues into new adventure in 2025!
To more adventures!!!
